|Animal ID: 14072200660Pepper (male)|
Pepper is a six-year old male soft coated Wheaton Terrier. We raised him from the age of two months alongside our two young daughters. He is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations. He is very loving toward kids and adults alike. He gets along with small dogs but can be aggressive with many dogs his size or larger. Over the last eight months, he has become more nervous or afraid. He is more withdrawn, typically residing underneath a desk or table. He used to greet us when we would come home; now he does not do that as often. He sometime growls and bares his teeth when we try to put him outside, and bit my husband once when he tried to get him to go outside. This largely occurs when there is stormy weather. This is the reason we need to find a different home for him. We are not sure why this behavior started though it could be a result of a very cold winter, and two large home remodeling projects we undertook in 2013 and at present. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 14-06-25-00011Leyla (female)|
Leyla is an adorable, two-year-old, 19-pound, female Whoodle (Wheaten Terrier/Poodle-Mix) looking for a loving guardian. Leyla was relinquished to Chicago Animal Care & Control because the owner said the kids wouldn't help her take care of the dog 'so this is what they get.' Leyla can be lovely one-on-one when you get to know her, but she is a little shy and tentative at first. She doesn't know any commands, so she is looking for an experienced dog-lover to train her. Leyla has some fear-aggression triggered by noises, objects, large dogs or people coming towards her. She's looking for a person or couple, preferably in a home versus an elevator building, where Leyla can get the love and training she requires. Leyla is very healthy, de-wormed, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, and heartworm-tested. If you are interested in adopting her, please fill in the online application at http://famousfidorescue.com/rescueforms/machform/view.php?id=26727 and follow up by contacting Gloria at firstname.lastname@example.org or 773-907-0305. Her adoption fee of $250 benefits the rescues of Famous Fido's. The rescue has dogs of all sizes and ages looking for loving guardians. They spend their days at 5430 N. Clark Street in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood. Make an appointment to stop in and meet some of these lovable souls. (Less)

Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. The Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier is a medium sized, shaggy dog. Wheaten Terriers are friendly, cheerful pets. Wheatens get along well with children. Wheaten Terriers can usually be socialized to get along with other dogs, but are not a good choice for homes with cats. Wheaten Terriers are intelligent and should receive consistent training from an early age. Soft-Coated Wheatens do fine living in an apartment if they get enough exercise.
